✨NEXT UP: SOLOCOM 2025 APRIL 12 & TESTING GAY IDEAS (FUNNY) APRIL 25✨

Join Michael John Ciszewski for a brand new collection of his greatest hits and new bits! His “Material Girl” is a tale of accidental car theft; his “Like A Prayer,” a surprising hookup with a radical leftist. His enlightened “Ray of Light?” An unhinged treatise on the blistering stupidity of falling in love again and again. He’s here, he’s queer, he’s got a gap between his front teeth just like Madonna, and he’s got an IMMACULATE COLLECTION of all-killer, no-filler GAY NONSENSE for SoloCom NYC 2025!

SOLOCOM NYC has launched over 400 new solo comedies that have gone on to longer runs, tours and festivals around the world (including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.) SOLOCOM NYC is a festival of new solo work. All shows presented are 75%- 100% new material, and are created specifically for the festival. SOLOCOMs goal is to push artists to create a show that is meaningful, personal and to follow the fear.

TGIF (TESTING GAY IDEAS, FUNNY)!!

PIT favorite and NYC comedian Michael John Ciszewski (Edinburgh Fringe, Off-Broadway) makes his return to 29th Street after sell-out smash hits LOVEFOOL and IF MEMORY SERVES for a Friday night Spring 2025 residency exploring BRAND NEW MATERIAL for his upcoming, as-yet-untitled, masterpiece-in-the-making FIFTH solo hour of comedy about his unbearably iconic mother, the way we build our own legacies, and the blistering stupidity of falling in love again and again. At every date, he’ll be joined by his favorite comics, drag artists, and queer performers. How’s that for divine comedy?!

Ciszewski has been heralded as “a whip smart comic [who] holds the room like putty” (BingeFringe) and who “celebrates love the way Julia Child celebrated French cooking” (Monumental Entertainment). He has earned accolades including a Queer Performer’s Award Nomination at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe—where his show was named the #50 Top Show out of 3600!—and raves from critics and audiences alike.

TGIF is directed in part by Noah Simes (Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare, The Penumbra Podcast) and produced by Brian Dudley (Lovefool, If Memory Serves).

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Check in on what I’m up to on Instagram:

Michael John (he/him) is a queer actor and comedian born, raised, and returned to New York City after launching his career in Boston and London.

Celebrated as “equal parts engrossing storyteller as he is whip-smart comic” by Binge Fringe Magazine, Ciszewski’s comedy is rooted in queerness and healing. His debut solo show Everyone is Dying and So Am I premiered in July 2019 and then enjoyed sold-out performances in Boston and at Manhattan's Theatre Row and United Solo Theatre Festival—spotlighting the best in international solo performance. It was subsequently nominated for the festival’s audience award. His second solo effort The Sun is Sleeping was a full-length film composed at the start of the pandemic era that screened in virtual events from late 2020 into 2021.

His hit third solo hour Lovefool premiered in 2022 and has since played in venues ranging from proscenium and black box theatres to comedy clubs and festival stages in New York City, Boston, Providence, Provincetown, Jersey City, and Philadelphia. In Summer 2023, it enjoyed an eight-date tour of the Northeast on which it was named a Critic’s Pick by the Provincetown Independent and sold out Brooklyn’s Pete’s Candy Store.

Ciszewski’s fourth hour of comedy If Memory Serves debuted in February 2023 to a sold-out house in New York City before touring to Fort Lauderdale and Boston. In August 2024, it enjoyed a month-long run in Edinburgh, Scotland, presented by leading UK comedy producer Just the Tonic at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it earned both critical and audience raves.
